Nefyn Sailing Club runs a month long program of competitive multi-class races throughout August.
Located on the Lleyn peninsula, people come from all parts of the country to race and enjoy the fantastic scenery.

We are considering visiting Nefyn in August (possibly 5th-12th) next summer
& would like to find out information about sailing from the beach. We would
bring our own dinghies-Laser 2000 & Pico & would like to know about beach
access, dinghy storage, fees etc. Last year we visited Abersoch- is the
sailing at Nefyn similar?

Hi Gillian,
Would be great to see you in Nefyn this summer. Access to the beach is directly from a road in all but the highest spring tides.
There are a few 2000′s on the beach and a similar amount of Picos and we race most days conditions permitting.
Secure storage is not possible on Nefyn beach, though there are “pitches” available for rent where you can tie up the boats. If this is of interest, we can get some detials of free pitches for you.
As for the sailing – we think of ourselves as a hardy bunch compared with the gentler side of the peninsula! Importantly, the races are all patrolled with a safety boat and are fun and challenging with stunning views of the mountains. The beach is a great place to let the kids expolore, providing enough room for everyone.
